Fourth Street Live!

The City of Louisville, Kentucky tasked us with redeveloping the failed Louisville Galleria, a vacant enclosed mall in the heart of downtown. This empty, decaying project had become a significant impediment to any revitalization of the city’s urban core.  We “de-malled” the building and transformed it into Fourth Street Live!, a $60 million retail, entertainment, and office district that opened in 2003. It directly brought over 65 new businesses to urban Louisville, and created over 1,520 new direct full-time jobs. The project’s entertainment district consistently ranks as the top tourist destination in Kentucky. Equally, Fourth Street Live! has been central in the broader revitalization of the city, helping spur hundreds of millions of dollars in new investment around it. The project was awarded an Urban Land Institute Award for Excellence, which measures broad economic impacts of a project as a key criterion.
