Power Plant Live!

With Power Plant Live!, we took a series of vacant and dilapidated buildings in downtown Baltimore, and preserved their historic fascia while transforming them into a highly successful retail, entertainment and office district for the city. An assemblage of 19 different historic buildings, the facility was originally constructed in 1908 as Baltimore’s commercial fish market, but had become obsolete and blighted by the turn of the century. We successfully preserved these historic structures, while ensuring their economic viability for the next century.

In addition, in 2014, we partnered with the Maryland Energy Administration to transform the project into a modern, energy-efficient design. Energy efficiency measures included cutting-edge wireless thermostat systems, occupancy based lighting controls, CO2-based demand control ventilation, and a new fully-integrated building automation system. These measures dramatically reduced the energy footprint of the project.
